The $37.3 billion package would ensure the last two years of crucial Gonski funds are distributed, including an additional investment of $4.5 billion over 2018 and 2019.

AGPPA President Gabrielle Leigh said this announcement couldn’t have come at a better time, with Government primary school principals and educational leaders currently feeling the financial strain in their schools.

“Our Government primary schools desperately need this money now and Labor’s proposed plan is a step in the right direction to rectify the funding inequities in Australia’s education system. It gives us long term planning which will benefit all students.”

“We strongly support any plan that recommends the funding of primary schools according to student need.”
