Media Release: AGPPA Welcomes new Shadow Education Minister (23 July 2016)
The Australian Government Primary Principals Association, AGPPA, the national body for primary principals in government schools, congratulates Hon Tanya Plibersek MP on her appointment as Shadow Federal Minister for Education. AGPPA President Gabrielle Leigh welcomes the opportunity to work with Tanya Plibersek around key education initiatives recognising the importance of education in growing a healthy and fairer nation.
Ms Leigh said, “We look forward to establishing a positive relationship with the Shadow Education Minister and working together in strengthening our education system. We hope to continue the discussion about the importance of needs-based funding in government primary schools”.
An AGPPA research paper titled Building Our Nation Through Public Education, written by Emeritus Professor Alan Reid from the University of South Australia found that the consequences of inadequate resources for children in need could have a lasting effect on the educational future of our nation.
